Tide Chandelier

I ran across this designer, Stuart Haygarth on the web today. He makes lovely creations out of found and collected objects. Here are just a few of his designs made from collected debris washed up on the shore line, and vehicle light lenses.

I am really liking yellow alot lately. I think it is because my body has been deprived of vitamin D for far too long. I am ready for summer days and eating outside with friends. This would make a beautiful decoration for a summer party. I found these tissue paper pom-poms at S.HOP talk today and lillyella has all the instructions for you here.

Lesley's Balloons make me Happy!

Paint, Paint, Paint!

I always have a harder time picking paint colors for my own house than I do for others. Does anyone else have this problem? When I see pictures of beautiful rooms with bright or saturated colors, it always seems to catch my eye, but when I try it on my own wall I realize that it really just isn't me. This is when I usually end up repainting. Well, I am at it again...still working on my design on a dime kitchen update. I think I'm happy with the fabric for the table cloth though. I just love Ikea!

Organic Cotton Gift Wrap

Monday, May 18, 2009

This beautiful, reusable, organic cotton gift wrap is made by Chewing the Cud, a design, paper goods and textile-based accessories company in San Francisco. They were debuting this at the National Staionary Show in New York this past weekend along with a few more of their latest designs. You can see this and alot more here or look up their blog here.

Happy Monday...

I decided to post this picture today of my sweet little puggle Roca to visually show my struggle to find something witty and unique to post here today. Last week I was a busy little bee cleaning out my house and preparing for a garage sale this past weekend. Now that I have cleaned out the house I need to get to work on updating the look of my kitchen dining area. Remember my inspiration here. I'm looking forward to showing you the photos of my finished work. Stay tuned for more.

Colors of the Rainbow

Sticky Note Experiment by EepyBird from Eepybird on Vimeo.

If you like color you have to see this. It is an experiment done with an amazing rainbow of colorful sticky notes. This is brought to you by the crazy mad scientists of EepyBird. These are the same guys who have done the experiments with mentos and diet coke. This looks like so much fun. I think I might have to go buy some sticky notes and try this myself. If you would like to see more of them you can see them here on EepyBird.com. (seen via SWISSMISS)

Sunny Days

I saw this sunny little eating nook via Creature Comforts this morning. Doesn't it make you long for bright warm summer days? The look is so fresh, clean and streamlined. My tastes in decor have been changing over the past year and when I can afford to, I have been trying to add more modern and streamlined features to my decor. This look is definitely inspiring me to make some changes in my kitchen.

I saw these beautiful napkin invitations via Oh Happy Day this morning. I love how someone can take something ordinary and turn it into extraordinary. These very unique invitations were hand drawn by Bryn and submitted to the DIY contest on 100 Layer Cake.

Blogging my way

Wednesday, May 6, 2009

Well, I just finished with a little online blogging class that was a big motivator for me to finally start this blog. I would probably still be just reading blogs and thinking about starting my blog had it not been for the Blogging Your Way e-course taught by Holly Becker , the author of one of my favorite blogs, Decor8. Holly's class covered a variety of topics that included finding your own voice and niche, overcoming fear, creative post ideas, increasing your readership and lots of other useful blogging tips. Holly is a very positive motivator and very generous in sharing her knowledge with others. She is thinking about teaching another class this June and I would highly recommend it.

Here is a little highlight of fellow bloggers from the BYW e-course whose blogs I enjoyed reading since joining this class.

Chocolate Delight!

Tuesday, May 5, 2009

A few years ago I saw an article on chocolate in Real Simple Magazine. One cute little wooden box with a red ribbon caught my eye so I had to order it. It was the best chocolate that I ever tasted and I would have to say it still is today. It is artisan chocolate made by a company in New Hampshire called L.A. Burdick Chocolate. This would make a great gift for Mothers Day. They only ship by Fex Ex so it is not too late to still put in your order.

What's behind that door?

Monday, May 4, 2009

Do you ever wonder when you take a walk in the neighborhood or down the street what is behind that pretty window or doorway you see. What happens in that place? Who lives in that place? What does it look like on the inside? I am always intrigued by this. Here are a few pictures of windows and doorways that I took when I was in Israel. Just a little beauty for your delight today.
